  1. Father's Dream

From the recording Father's Dream

My father was a dreamer and a musician whose legacy to me was not only his love of music, but his angelic singing voice. I consider it a beautiful gift. It broke my heart when he passed over, but I feel his spirit in every song I sing. It was a long time before I was able to write these lyrics… Finally, I took them to my friend Herb Ernst and asked him to help me with the music. It was a wonderful experience, and he has a gentle spirit and enormous talent. In the recording studio, I was very emotional. At the end of the song my emotions took over and you can hear it in my voice, but I wanted to keep it in. I felt is was honest and real. This song took eleven years to come to fruition, and I know my father is smiling that famous smile of his and glad that I finally got on with it.

Lyrics

Father's Dream
One day a dreamer came to share an angel’s kissHis blood runs through my veins, and even more than thisMy heart beats with the love and passion of a manWho would give the stars above if the world were in his handsThis was my father’s dream, and it is everythingGod bless the dreamer who taught me to believeGod bless the dreamer who lives inside of meHe was a music man, who played a different tuneBut my leader of the band would leave this life too soonMy voice still sings so strong with the memory of his graceEach line, each note, each song, believes in a better placeThat was my father’s dream, and this is everythingGod bless the dreamer who taught me to believeGod bless the dreamer who lives inside of meMy voice still sings so strong with the memory of his graceEach line, each note, each song, believes in a better placeThat was my father’s dream, and this is everythingI’ll live my father’s dreamAnd this is everything
